Neeley Leads Vikings To Links Title
WARSAW – Tanner Neeley was the top man as Tippecanoe Valley was the top team Saturday to earn the Three Rivers Conference golf championship.
Neeley earned individual medalist honors for the champion Vikings in the tournament played at the Rozella Ford Golf Club.
Neeley, a senior, shot a round of 77 and then defeated Daniel Zawlocki of Whitko in a two-hole playoff to earn the top individual spot in the seven-team event.
Coach Roger Moriarty’s Vikings shot a 332, a dozen shots better than runner-up Rochester at 344.
Junior Bryce Zimpelman also earned all-conference honors for Valley with an 80.
Sophomore Trevor Neeley carded an 87 and classmate Cole Cumberland an 88 as the Vikings won the league tourney title for the third time in the last five years. Senior Ben Shriver had a 90 for the champions.
Rochester was second with a 344, while Northfield was third with a 344. Defending champion Whitko was fourth with a 352, followed by Manchester (378), Southwood (388) and Wabash (423).
Zawlocki and Cole Bechtold each earned All-TRC honors for the Wildcats. Bechtold shot an 83.
Will Peters finished with a 91 for Whitko. Tim Gensch had a 101 and Matt Hathaway a 113 for the Wildcats.
