Panthers Prevail Over Tigers
NAPPANEE – The Warsaw baseball team continued its recent struggles Saturday.
Host NorthWood handed the Tigers a 5-1 loss in a Northern Lakes Conference makeup game.
Warsaw, which has lost eight of its last nine games, drops to 9-12 overall and 6-6 in the NLC.
The Tigers plated their lone run in the first inning versus the Panthers.
NorthWood, which improves to 14-5 overall and 8-4 in the NLC, scored single runs in each of the first three innings. The Panthers, who lost to NLC foe Elkhart Memorial on Friday, then scored a pair in the sixth frame.
Caleb Heckaman paced the Tiger offense with three hits.
Justin Oberlin and Sterling Hay each had two hits for Warsaw.
Starter Zach Witt took the pitching loss for the Tigers.
Warsaw hosts Concord and NorthWood entertains Plymouth in NLC games on Monday evening.
The Warsaw junior varsity team split a twin bill Saturday versus DeKalb.
The Tigers took game one by a 9-5 final. Collin Marshall led the winners with three hits, including two doubles. Marcello Rodriguez earned the pitching win.
DeKalb took game two by a 13-8 count. Tommy Hickerson and Josh Fitzgerald each had two hits for Warsaw. Justin Kerschner took the pitching loss.
The Warsaw JV, now 12-11 overall, hosts Concord Monday.
