Marsh Announces Run For Sheriff
Travis Marsh, a lieutenant with Milford Police Department, has announced his run for sheriff of Kosciusko County.
Marsh, who has served with on the MPD for 6 years, is also an adjunct faculty member instructing criminal justice classes at Ivy Tech Community College.
According to Marsh’s campaign website, he is seeking to take “an active role in making the community, state and country a safer, better place to raise children, run a business and forge futures.” Marsh, who will run as an independent candidate, states he is forming a “grassroots,” independent campaign to bring a new and fresh perspective to the KCSD.
“I am running for sheriff of Kosciusko County,” he wrote. “Like you, I want to play an active role in making my community, state and country a safer, better place to raise our children, run our businesses, and forge our futures. I am a career police officer not a career politician,” he added.
Marsh was raised in Syracuse and attended Syracuse Elementary and Junior High. He graduated from Wawasee High School.
“I learned early on the value of hard work, teamwork and perseverance,” stated Marsh. “Coming from a family of law enforcement officers, I sought the same path. In 1993, I was sworn in as a reserve deputy at the North Webster Police Department. I was then hired full-time by the Pierceton Police Department 1994. That same year, Marsh married Cris Troup. A few weeks after getting married, he left for the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He attended the 119th session of the Indiana Law Enforcement serving as the class president.
“My law enforcement career of 22 years has been full of ups and downs,” he wrote. “Only with the support God, my wife, Cris, our four children and 11 grandchildren have made me realize that running for sheriff will be a positive experience.”
