David L. ‘Pappy’ Simpson
David L. ‘Pappy’ Simpson, 70, Silver Lake, Ind., passed away at 9 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, in his residence.
He was born Dec. 8, 1943, in Wabash, Ind., to Logan Asberry and Mary Ethlyn (Hindel) Simpson. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1962. On June 24, 1962, he married Janet D. Overlander.
In 2006 he retired from Kimble Glass, Warsaw, Ind., after 35 years of service. Dave enjoyed golf, bowling, softball and NASCAR racing. He was a race car mechanic at local race tracks for several years and a member of the Rock Lake Sportsmans Club.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: Gary (Susan) Simpson, Warsaw; Kenny D. (Denise) Simpson, Warsaw; three daughters: Teresa L. Simpson, Disko, Ind.; Debbi S. Fields, Akron, Ind.; Wendy K. Simpson, Silver Lake; three half-brothers: John Morris, Warsaw; Tom Morris, Silver Lake; Stanley (Paulette) Morris, Silver Lake; Sue Hollond, Bradenton, Fla. Marcia Boyd, Sarasota, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two half-brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester, Ind. No funeral services are planned at this time.
