Idella Mae Kauffman
Idella Mae Kauffman, 88, of Grace Village Retirement Community of Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Grace Village Health Care.
Idella was born on Dec. 5, 1925, in Lagrange County, Ind., to William Carl Sigler and Ora Idella (Updike) Sigler. On April 2, 1949, she was married to Roy Devon Kauffman, who preceded her in death.
She was a resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 26 years. She was a 1943 graduate of Topeka High School in Topeka, Ind. She had trained as a nurse for 2 years in South Bend, Ind. For many years, she worked at the LaGrange County Courthouse as a clerk, she also worked at the Kosciusko County Historical Society in Warsaw, Ind. Idella was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God in Warsaw. She enjoyed gardening and visiting shut-ins.
She is survived by her daughter: Pat (Del) Miller, Shipshewana, Ind.; son: Tom (Amy) Kauffman, Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister: Phyllis (Bill) Kaser, Ranlo, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the funeral home and will be officiated by Pastor Ray Hansen. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
