Tigers Top Central To Stop Skid
ELKHART – The Warsaw softball team collected a much-needed win Saturday.
The Tigers used a late surge to edge past host Elkhart Central 5-3 in a non-conference game.
Warsaw scored three runs in their final two at bats to secure the win to snap a five-game losing streak. The Tigers scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Central then tied the game with a run in the third frame. Warsaw then scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh.
Senior Kaleigh Speicher had two hits and notched the pitching win in the circle for Warsaw.
Kara Dishman led the offense for the Tigers with three hits, including a double. Karly Jones had two hits and Kalie Keener scored two runs for the winners.
Warsaw now stands at 4-9 overall on the season. Central drops to 9-8.
The Tigers, who are 3-3 in Northern Lakes Conference play, host Elkhart Memorial Monday in a league contest. Warsaw then plays at Wawasee Wednesday and at Goshen Friday in NLC action.
