WHS Choral Departments Present ‘Show Tunes’
The Wawasee High School Choral Department will be presenting Pops Show 2014, “Show Tunes,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, in the high school auditorium. With song, dance, wild costuming, lighting, special effects, comedy and laughter, what more could you ask for a weekend’s entertainment?
The music included is a tribute to some of the oldies, but goodies, in American Broadway theatre, movies and television. A few of the highlighted musicals are “Hairspray,” “Les Miserables,” “Wicked,” “Curtains,” “Memphis,” “Wonderland,” “Newsies” and a Rodgers and Hammerstein medley of favorites, such as “Sound Of Music,” “Oklahoma,” “South Pacific,” and “Carousel.”
The show choir, Vocal Motion, will also be singing and dancing to “Green Eggs and Ham” from the new musical, “Seussical,” with special appearances by Dr. Seuss characters.
Director of choirs is Connie Meadows. Choreographers for the show are Veronica Runyon and Amanda Bradley. Costumes and set are designed and made by Deb Sweazy. Lighting and new video and special effects will be produced by Ken Strong.
Emcees for the show are Amanda Bradley, Tiarra Culp, Kaylee Nelson and Ethan Wright.
Tickets may be purchased from any choir student or by calling the high school at (574) 457-3147. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and under.
Seating is reserved.
