Pence, Nisly Similar On Guns
Dear Editor,
I’m pleased that Indiana has favorable gun laws. I’m proud that Governor Pence signed SB 229 into law. This common sense approach allows legal gun owners to have a gun in their car while on school property, so long as it is in the parking lot, concealed and locked in the car. This is a common sense law.
It means grandparents like myself, who may have a valid conceal carry permit, do not need to leave their gun at home when they drop off or pick up a grandchild for school, or go from work to a sporting event.
Rebecca Kubacki voted for an amendment to this legislation which would have made it a felony to do any of the above … even if a parent/grandparent inadvertently had the gun in the car … out of habit.
I have heard Kubacki’s opponent, Curt Nisly say ’Gun Free Zones’ are the problem not the solution. I agree. Although Kubacki eventually voted for SB 229, her earlier vote to amend the legislation is far more telling about her view on gun rights. This is just one of the many reasons I’m voting for Curt Nisly.
On May 6, get to the polls and “Choose Wisely, Vote Nisly.”
