Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival This Weekend
WAKARUSA – The Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival is Friday-Sunday, April 25-27. This year, Sunday is being added to celebrate the festival’s 45th year.
There will be plenty of food. Wakarusa Lions Club’s all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage meal is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at NorthWood Middle School. Wakarusa Elementary School PTO’s all-you-can-eat barbecue meal is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at Nelson’s. Other food vendors will also be at the festival.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, in downtown Wakarusa, where most of the activities will take place.
There will be plenty of entertainment all three days. Joanna Beasley, a Christian artist, will perform a free concert 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Friday. Singer/songwriter Kendall Phillips will perform country music 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Bulldogs will perform rock-n-roll from the 1950s and 1960s at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The Kent Family Circus will have nine shows each of the three days. Indiana Wild, a live animal show, will be at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Cody Collier will perform Christian music from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by hosting Wakarusa’s Got Talent contest.
An antique show will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at the NorthWood Middle School gym.
Other events include: baby Olympics (at Bible Baptist Church), pedal pull, cross-cut saw contest, bed race, camel and pony rides, and children and adult “Minute Will Win It contests.
The queen and sweetheart coronation will be at 5 p.m. Friday, at the middle school.
There will be free demonstrations and tours and craft and commercial booths all weekend. Festival hours are: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
