Convenience Store Armed Robbery Suspect Sought
Warsaw Police continue to investigate an armed robbery that occurred early this morning at the Lassus Handy Dandy gas station.
Police were called around 4 a.m. to 1900 Plaza Dr. in reference to the report made to dispatch. The store clerk notified police that the suspect entered the store while other customers were there. Once the other customers left, the suspect approached the counter and displayed a black handgun. The man, described as a Hispanic, possibly in his 30s, allegedly told the clerk “I need money or else I’m gonna shoot.” He also said, “I gotta feed my babies.”
The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the man then left the store, walking south. No vehicle was seen.
The suspect is also said to be approximately 5’3″ or 5’4″ weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was wearing dark colored pants and dark shoes, and a white zip-up hoodie with a dark design on the right side of the hood and on the chest. The man may have had short black hair and a goatee, but a red bandana was used to cover his face.
An investigation is continuing by WPD. Indiana State Police and officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department assisted on scene.
