Balazs Bound For Wabash
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior football standout Tanner Balazs has announced his intention to attend Wabash College in the fall and play football for the Little Giants’ program.
Balazs, a speedy and sure-handed wide receiver and big play defensive back for the Tigers, announced his decision this week, choosing to attend Wabash where he hopes to compete for a role at slot or possibly the secondary.
Throughout the 2013 season, Balazs made a number of outstanding plays on the gridiron where he helped lead the Tigers to a 7-4 finish. In addition to his sure hands that led to a 17 yards per catch average, Balazs’ strength and athleticism was evident on a number of reverse plays and efforts from the backfield where he averaged 6.8 yards per carry, and he also served as punt and kickoff returner as well as several roles on defense.
Balazs, an All-NLC first team selection this past football season, also competed in baseball and competes currently for the Warsaw boys track team.
While Balazs was making an impact on the gridiron, he also made one in the community where he served with Habitat for Humanity in the school, Miller’s Merry Manor, 4H, Warsaw Community Church, Fellowship of Christian Athletics, and the Octagon Club.
Balazs, who in addition to his outstanding performance on the field, turned in a solid effort in the classroom and earned Scholar-Athlete recognition. He intends to major in the Business Leadership Program and play for the Little Giants and coach Eric Raeburn. Wabash, an NCAA Divison III school located in Crawfordsville, competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
