TVHS Building Trades Program Hosts Open House
The Tippecanoe Valley High School Building Trades program, under the direction of instructor Wes Backus, will host an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The open house features the home built for Lynn Montelongo at 8482 S. 1200 W., Mentone.
The home is located 1 mile west of Tippecanoe Valley High School. To reach the Montelongo home, take SR 19 south of Mentone to the flashing caution sign at CR 800 South (CR 800 South runs on the north side of Tippecanoe Valley Middle School). Travel one mile west on CR 800 South to CR 1200 West. Go one quarter mile south on CR 1200 West and the Montelongo home is located on the east side of the road.
The Montelongo home has 6,714 total square feet of living space with a 2,829-square-foot main floor, a 2,829-square-foot walk-out basement, an attached 936-square-foot three-car garage, and a 120-square-foot storm shelter.
Included in the living space are three full bathrooms and three bedrooms.
The living room features a cathedral ceiling while the dining room and master bedroom feature trayed ceilings with can lights. The kitchen features a coffered ceiling. The home’s exterior features vinyl siding with shake siding on the gables, stone veneer on the foundation, and a full length porch on the east and west sides of the home. The home is heated and cooled by a closed loop geothermal system.
The public is invited to attend the open house and tour the beautiful home constructed by the building trades students of Tippecanoe Valley High School.
