Baugher Bound For Saint Francis
FORT WAYNE – Whitko High School senior Tyler Baugher has chosen the University of Saint Francis to continue his education and will continue his tennis as well committing to the Cougars.
Baugher, the son of Vallerie and Chuck Whaley, was 22-14 his junior and senior years combined for the Wildcats. He was an IHSAA regional qualifier, Three Rivers Conference champion at No. 1 singles, three-time MVP, and first team all-conference while playing No. 1 singles the last three seasons.
“I’m very excited to continue my tennis career and move on to the collegiate level,” Baugher said during a brief ceremony at Hutzell Athletic Center on the USF campus. “Saint Francis is the perfect fit for me. I’m excited to be involved in the EPIC program and join the business department. When I visited USF I could really see myself being successful for the next four years.”
USF Head Coach Kristen Harrow was pleased to get Tyler’s commitment.
“I was really glad to get that phone call from Tyler,” Harrow said about Baugher’s decision to attend USF and play for the Cougars. “I’m looking forward to his continued development in tennis at the collegiate level.”
