First Friday All About Recycling, Repurposing
[UPDATE: Tonight’s First Friday is still on unless it is pouring rain. Should First Friday be cancelled, we will post information as soon as it becomes available.]
Tonight’s First Friday event in downtown Warsaw could prove interesting as local artists will compete for the best use of recycled materials.
Those who registered weeks ago for the Repurpose, Recycle, Reuse contest will display their creations and compete for a $100 prize — and bragging rights, of course. Their art work has to be created from recycled materials and all of their work had to be documented via video from start to completion.
The Repurpose, Recycle, Reuse contest judging will get underway at 7 p.m. with an auction of the winning pieces starting at 8 p.m.
Also on tap for tonight, in keeping with the recycling theme, Goodwill is holding a “This is Your Life” fashion show starting at 6:15 p.m. at the main stage area at Center and Buffalo streets.
His Vine Church members will perform “A Recycled Faith” skit at 6:45 p.m. on the main stage.
Lots of vendors and artisans will be also be on hand selling food and art items. And, candidates seeking local offices will also be present to meet the public.
May’s First Friday event theme will be Musical May and is an opportunity for any singles or groups to perform their musical talents. From singing to dancing to performing musical instruments, artists can now apply for performance time by filling out the online form at warsawcdc.org.
