CASA Promoting Child Abuse Prevention
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Court Appointed Special Advocates is putting together some events to raise awareness.
On Friday, CASA will have representatives at Warsaw’s First Friday event selling pinwheels for the pinwheel garden. Pinwheels are used to honor victims of child abuse.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, a Light of Hope Candlelight Ceremony will be held on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. The public is invited to come be a light of hope for those living with abuse, remember those who have suffered, and come stand against child abuse and neglect.
On Wednesday, April 16, the author of “No Such Thing as a Bad Kid” will be offering a strength-based training at the Wagon Wheel Theater and at Lakeview Auditorium. Charlie Appelstein will offer a positive approach in guiding at-risk children and youth.
Admission is $25 and includes a copy of Appelstein’s book. The first session on April 16 will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Wagon Wheel Theater. The second session, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will be at Lakeview Auditorium. Register by emailing [email protected] or call Ashlan Miller at 574-372-2401.
Anyone can help CASA throughout the month by eating at local restaurants and shopping at local businesses. A percentage of sales from Redwood Firewood Grill and Bar, Viand Chef Services, Service Liquors, Eagle Creek Farms and BoatHouse Restaurant will benefit CASA.
