Syracuse BZA Approves Sole Case
The sole case at Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals meeting was approved Thursday. Derek and Tisha Powell’s petition for a variance was the only case on the agenda.
The petition permits the construction of a 22-foot by 40-foot accessory building with living quarters 2 feet from the railroad right of way, 3 feet from the east and west side lines and 10 feet from the north right of way.
It will also allow a main residence to be constructed on the north half of the lot in the future.
The property is located on the south side of Medusa Street and 250 feet east of Front Street.
The Powells petition was unanimously approved as presented. Four board members were present: Larry Martindale, Dan List, Larry Coplen and Ben Plickerd.
The conditions of approval are that the structure and the future residence built on the main portion of the property are for single family use and occupancy only and the property is not to be split or further subdivided.
Setbacks for the structure are taken from the part of the structure projecting closest to the property line, which is guttering attached to the eaves.
The next meeting is at 6 p.m. April 17, at Syracuse Town Hall.
