Statewide Tornado Drill Set For Thursday
This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week for Indiana and also National Flood Awareness Week. As such, Kosciusko County Emergency Management Director Ed Rock said a Tornado Drill has been scheduled for this week.
Communities that have tornado sirens will undergo two tornado warning tests this Thursday. The first will happen around 10:30 a.m. and a second will occur at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Rock said some communities are not going to sound the sirens or relay the warning tests as they do not want to interfere with ISTEP testing. The National Weather Service will, however, issue two test warnings on Thursday.
The goal of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which is March 16-22, is to better educate people about the hazards of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, and to help everyone be prepared when severe weather occurs.
