WCHS To Host Run, Walk Or Roll Event
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School will hold a “RUN, WALK, or ROLL” 5K and 1-mile event on Saturday, May 24 at WCHS.
The event is designed to raise money and awareness for the Indiana Special Olympics and help offset the costs of the WCHS Unified Track & Field Program, a program providing participation opportunities for WCHS Students with special needs.
The 5K run will be held at the WCHS Cross Country Course. The 1-Mile Run/Walk/Roll will occur on the WCHS track at the Tigers Athletic Complex. The Complex is wheelchair accessible. The 5K race begins at 9 a.m. with the 1-Mile Run/Walk/Roll starting at 10 a.m.
All pre-registered participants will be guaranteed a shirt commemorating this first-ever event, and sponsors will be listed on the shirt as well. Awards will be provided to the top three overall and top three age-group performers in both the male and female 5K events. The 1-Mile Run/Walk/Roll is an untimed event.
The WCHS Unified Track & Field program will be one of 20 unified teams in Indiana that will be eligible to participate at this year’s first ever Champions Together state meet. Recently student-athletes from WCHS and schools around the state met in Indianapolis for the Champions Together Workshop. This training was the result of a joint effort by the Indiana High School Athletic Association and Indiana Special Olympics. At this training, students shared regarding the importance of including people with disabilities into our daily lives and valuing them for their important contributions to our community.
