Spring Into Art Returns to Coppes Commons in Nappanee
Spring Into Art is back in Nappanee this year at Coppes Commons! Sponsored by the Friends of the Nappanee Public Library, the annual art fair will be held Friday, March 28 to Saturday, March 29. Fine art, free hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and more — it’s a celebration of the arts and the artistic process, and it’s all in your own back yard!
Make plans to take part in this exciting event bustling with shopping, learning and inspiration for all ages. Spring Into Art takes place at the recently-renovated Coppes kitchen factory at 401 E. Market St. and will feature over 40 exceptional artists working in a variety of media including painting, ceramics, textiles, jewelry, photography and more. Young art lovers will have the chance to purchase their own original works of art in a new area, sponsored by the Psi Iota Xi sorority, full of items selected and priced especially for kids.
“We are thrilled to be working with Coppes Commons again this year. The growing facility is a great fit for us, offering an attractive space to showcase the work of our artists and a convenient place for our guests to shop and learn,” said Event Coordinator Jessica Flores. “With the addition of Coppes vendors and amenities, guests will find it easy to spend the entire day at the event on Saturday or enjoy an evening out with friends on Friday.”
Several free workshops will be offered, including jewelry-making, illustration, watercolor and pastel painting, charcoal drawing, balloon twisting and more. Unlike previous years, all classes will be walk-in only: no pre-registration will be taken, so plan to arrive early, and secure your spot. A full workshop schedule is available at www.nappaneelibrary.org.
Open hours for the public are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission and parking are free. For a minimum pledge of $25 to either purchase artwork during the show or give as a gift in support of the program, guests get the chance to attend a special Purchase Award Sponsor Preview Reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
“We were very pleased with the size of the crowd at last year’s show,” says Flores, who reports an attendance of over 1,500 at Coppes Commons in 2013. “We continue to strive for improving the quality of work offered, making the arts accessible to the community and offering an inspiring and affordable event for all ages.”
The purpose of Spring Into Art is to support the arts, to promote artists, and to benefit the Friends of the Nappanee Public Library and the Nappanee Public Library Foundation. Funds are used throughout the year to bring the community enriching, educational and entertaining programs.
