NW Chamber Prepares For Warmer Weather
“Spring is coming,” assured North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce President Sue Ward to the membership in attendance at the general meeting Monday. Held at the North Webster American Legion Post 253, planning for spring and summer events was at the top of the agenda.
The North Webster Community Guide will soon be underway. This is one of the most viewed promotional items for the North Webster area annually. All members of the chamber who paid their 2014 dues by Feb. 15 will be listed in the directory section. Additional advertisements can be purchased by businesses and non-profits. Susan Littlefield of The Papers Inc., will be selling the ads. She can be reached at the Syracuse office, 574-457-3666. Copies of the guide will be distributed throughout the community in May.
Ward announced Dixie Days has become Dixie Day and will be held Saturday, July 26. The committee has formed and can always use volunteers. North Webster Community Center is holding an Easter event on Saturday morning, April 19, and needs assistance with set up and activities. Call Director of Operations Erin Smith at 574-834-1600.
Speaking at the meeting were Andy Bautz, who has opened Turning Point Counseling Center in North Webster. Also present were representatives from the Webster Lake Association: Van Bailey, Steve Canney and Terry Frederich.
The association is seeking more members and would like to offer a discount savers card to its members exclusively. The association not only puts on the annual fireworks display in July, but takes care of the dam and buoys for the lake and works with the DNR to control weeds in the correct manner.
In other business, Ben Ashpole reported the ongoing S.H.O.E.S. collection project is going well and will continue and expand after Wawasee Community School Corporation’s spring break, which is April 7-11. All were reminded to donate used shoes to the project at collection points around the area.
Feedback from the awards dinner has been positive and congratulations were offered to Helen Leinbach, Person of the Year; Stamp -n-Toys, Small Business of the Year; and Clayton’s Garden Center, Large Business of the Year.
The next general meeting of the North Webster Chamber of Commerce will be held at noon Monday, April 14, at the American Legion.
