Pierceton Man Assaults Police Officer
A Pierceton man was arrested on Saturday, March 8, for the battery of a Pierceton Police Officer and a woman, and for resisting law enforcement.
According to Officer Ed Owens of Pierceton Police Department, at approximately 10:19 p.m. Saturday, Owens was called to respond to a 911 hang up where dispatch was unable to contact the individual who called again.
Owens stated that after arriving on scene, he heard screaming coming from a camper and called for assistance. Owens then entered the camper and found Marty Jay Robbins, 44, of 8118 East US 30, Pierceton, inside the camper in the midst of the battery of a female. Owens reported that Robbins refused to listen to police, and when he went after Robbins to get him off the female Robbins attacked him.
Owens stated he wrestled with Robbins for 3 or 4 minutes until officers arrived on scene and Robbins was taken into custody. Owens was not injured as a result of the incident. Robbins was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for the battery of a law enforcement officer, battery and resisting law enforcement with a $500 cash bond.
