Employment Soars, 2014 Starting Strong
Total employment in Kosciusko County, as of the end of 2013, was up with 2,683 more people employed in the county than in 2012. At a 7.4 percent increase in employed people, Kosciusko County had the highest percentage in North Central and Northeast Indiana.
Only Allen County had a higher gross number at 5,500, and they are five times the size. Kosciusko County’s unemployment number at 5.2 percent was the lowest in the region, reported Kosciusko Economic Development Corp.
The year 2014 is starting off strong with the announcements in February of 70 new jobs and $3.3 million of capital investment at Shiloh in Pierceton, and 30 new jobs and $7.4 million of capital investment at Milestone (Da-Lite) in Warsaw.
Groundbreaking for the December expansion announcement at OMCO in Pierceton — 40 new jobs and a $6.7 million capital investment — was held for its 42,000-square-foot manufacturing addition last week.
