Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, March 9, 1:40 a.m. SR 14 near Packerton Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Gale G. Owens, 58, Jefferson Street, Silver Lake. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Saturday, March 8, 12:39 a.m. East 450 North Near North 175 East, Warsaw. Driver: David L. Hyde, 47, Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Hyde lost control of his vehicle, swerved off the road and struck two mailboxes before coming to a stop in a snow bank. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the accident. Hyde was arrested for OWI and leaving the scene of an accident. Damages: up to 2,500
Friday, March 7, 8:43 p.m. East 500 North near North 750 East, North Webster. Driver: Eric R. Lindsey, 33, 700 East, Leesburg. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, March 7, 3:21 a.m. Oakwood Drive near Ironwood Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Connie S. Davis, 64, Indian Trail, Warsaw. Driver struck deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Sunday, March 9, 11:42 p.m. Columbia Street near Smith Street, Warsaw. Driver: Alejandro M. Gonzalez, 32, Mineral Springs Avenue, Winona Lake. Gonzalez hit a parked car, registered to Richard Piper of Warsaw, and fled the scene. Witnesses provided a plate number and Gonzalez was later found at his residence, where he admitted to consuming alcohol before operating the vehicle. Marijuana was also located on Gonzalez’s person. He was transported to KCH to test for illegal drugs and alcohol. Damages: up to $2,500
Sunday, March 9, 7:45 p.m. Market Street near Detroit, Warsaw. Drivers: Kyle V. Brodien, 22, North 700 West, Warsaw; and Niya N. Sainer, 23, Market Street, Warsaw. Confusion with the traffic signal resulted in Brodien causing a collision with Sainer. Sainer was treated by EMS. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, March 9, 12:30 p.m. 2000 Block of Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Christopher A. Torpy, 49, EMS R4D Lane, Pierceton; and Peggy L. Pherigo, 67, East 250 South, Pierceton. Both drivers were exiting their respective parking spaces and collided in the center lane. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, March 8, 4:42 p.m. Kincaide Street near South Lake Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Leah R. Winger, 26, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw; and Michael J. Foote, 31, Kuder Lane, Warsaw. Winger pulled into Foote’s path causing a collision. Damages: up to $5,000
Friday, March 7, 4:51 p.m. Lake City Highway near Old U.S. 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Gerald W. Boyer, 59, Brookfield Circle, Warsaw; and Anna M. Ducharme, 39, High Street, Roanoke. Boyer rear-ended Ducharme while stopped at a traffic light. Damages: up to $2,500
Friday, March 7, 2:09 a.m. 900 block of Fisher Avenue, Warsaw. Driver: Kristopher D. King, 28, 250 South, Warsaw. King was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and drove off the roadway. King’s vehicle hit a snow bank and went air born. The vehicle landed in a nearby parking lot and struck a parked car. King sustained injuries to his face and mouth and was transported to KCH by EMS. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the accident. Damages: up to $25,000
