TVSC Employee Arrested For Giving Student Alcohol
The Indiana State Police have arrested a Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation employee this afternoon following an investigation into allegations that he provided alcohol to a 15 year old student.
According to Trooper David Caswell on Wednesday, March 5, an allegation was made to the Indiana State Police Post in Bremen stating that 49 year old David G. Swanson of Bourbon had provided alcohol to a 15 year old student, and that he had been furnishing this student with “beer and hard liquor” since the student was 13 years of age.
As a result of his investigation, Caswell indicated that on two separate occasions, once back in January and once back in February, both of this year, Swanson provided the student with moonshine at his residence in Bourbon. During the incident in February, it is alleged that Swanson had intended for the student to take five quart jars of moonshine and to sell them for $25 each. It was also alleged that Swanson had manufactured the moonshine using a still on his property.
Swanson was arrested without incident this afternoon and was incarcerated in the Kosciusko County Jail for maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony charge, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor charge.
The Indiana State Police remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
