William ‘Bill’ Ray Huiras
William ‘Bill’ Ray Huiras, 66, of Silver Lake, Ind., passed away at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Mach 2, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on June 16, 1947, in Peru, Ind., to Melvin Huiras and Laura Louise (Swingle) Huiras. He was a 1965 graduate of Oak Hill High School in Converse, Ind., and after he served in U.S. Army from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969. On April 22, 1983, in Bunker Hill, Ind., he was married to Donna Jolene ‘Jo’ (Ramsey) Huiras, who survives in Silver Lake.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 40 years where he worked as a communications technician for General Telephone Company. Bill had worked for Indiana Bell, GTE, and Verizon until his retirement in 2000. After Retirement he worked as a consultant for Tesinc Telephone Company. He was a former member of Laketon Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by three sons: Erin (Christine) Huiras, Wabash, Ind.; Willis ‘Ed’ (Catherine) Huiras, Carmel, Ind.; Christopher Huiras, Carmel, Ind.; one daughter: Tamara Roller, Winona Lake, Ind.; six grandchildren: Evan, Alex, Mikayla, Charlie, Grant and Mika; and his sister: Monica Oliver, Amboy, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son: Eric Huiras.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw, Ind. His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, and will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer.
