Public Law 286 was passed by the Indiana General Assembly in 2013, which creates Indiana Code 20-19-2-14.5 concerning the State Board of Education’s responsibility to review Indiana’s academic standards. This charge specifically mandates the State Board of Education to develop college and career readiness standards compliant with state and federal requirements before July 1, and to hold public hearings on the standards prior to adoption.
Although no public hearings will be held in Kosciusko County, one will be held in neighboring Marshall County from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Weidner School of Inquiry room at Plymouth High School, Randolph Drive. Park in lot 7 and enter through door 7.
