LCA Ladies See Season End
HAMILTON – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team stayed right with how Hamilton for the opening half Friday night.
Hamilton used a big second half to pull away from the Cougars for a 49-22 win in Class 1-A sectional semifinal action.
The host Marines (4-14) advance to play Bethany Christian (9-9) for the sectional championship Saturday night.
Hamilton, which beat LCA 54-23 in a regular-season game, led just 5-2 after the opening period and only 15-12 at intermission versus the Cougars. The hosts used an 18-4 scoring margin in the third period to take control of the contest.
Hannah Remington had a strong performance with nine points to lead the way for coach Ty Propp’s Cougars, who finish their season at 6-14.
Rachel Sand netted six points for LCA, while Hannah Delp had three. Carissa Urschalitz scored two points and Melissa Goss and Joselyn Helton each had one.
Sanne Van Roessel scored 11 to lead Hamilton.
Bethany Christian defeated Fort Wayne Blackhawk 51-42 in the other semifinal Friday night. Maria Bontrager scored 22 points and Hanna Hochstetler had 19 to lead the Bruins to the win.
