Syracuse Public Library Announcements
Cookies and Other Special Happenings
Cookie decorating is rescheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 13. The new event is called Valentine’s Special because along with cookie decorating there is Valentine card decorating. Everyone is encouraged to drop by between 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for some holiday fun along with some warming cocoa or coffee and conversation.
February is Library Lovers’ month. As a reminder that more people than book readers can love their library, anyone coming into the library can have a chance to win a box of chocolates. Entrants will make a guess about the number of beans in the vase and the closest guess wins.
The Tax Forms Have Arrived
Finally, most of the Federal forms are available at the Syracuse Library. The instruction booklets are here and missing forms can be printed from the internet. The staff at the circulation desk is happy to assist in printing tax forms. Indiana state tax forms and information are ready so that taxes can be filed with the state.
Presidents’ Day
The Syracuse Library is not going to be open on Feb. 17. Books about our country’s political leaders can be found in biographies and in American history where the grouping is by era.
Young Adults’ New-Book Club, Homeschoolers Meet
Teens are invited to meet for an hour at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18. A discussion of new and popular books will follow a run-through of the science scene for the YouTube video. Snacks are provided. The YA book club is for young people in sixth through 12th grade.
The homeschooler’s group is meeting at 2 p.m. Feb. 20. Parents discuss strategies and resources that are helpful in the home teaching environment while the children meet with the librarian to explore learning activities. The homeschooler’s group extends an open invitation to anyone interested in attending. Getting out and meeting other people can be inspiring when everyone has been cooped-up for the winter. All activities are free. The library can be contacted at 574-457-3022.
