Record-Setting Wildcats Top Cougars
WINONA LAKE – It was a record-setting night as Whitko defeated host Lakeland Christian Academy 92-35 Thursday in prep girls basketball action.
The Wildcats set a quartet of program records in recording the dominating win over the host Cougars.
Whitko set school marks for points in a game, margin of victory, two-point field goals (32) and assists (29) in the contest.
Senior Jordan Hall was sensational to lead the Wildcats. The center poured in 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
A plethora of players all contributed for the Wildcats, who led 20-9 after the first quarter before outscoring the hosts 24-8 in the second stanza.
Freshman Aly Reiff just missed a triple double with 18 points, nine rebounds and a dozen assists. Freshman Brianna Cumberland netted 12 points, seven steals and six assists. Junior Reghan Craig had 12 points for the Wildcats.
Sophomore Jennifer Reiff totaled nine points and dished out six assists. Freshman Hanna Yohe had nine points and senior Kelly Reiff eight. Junior Aly Nicodemus scored four points and freshman Riley Insley two to complete the scoring.
Rachel Sand scored 16 points to lead the host Cougars.
Hannah Delp drained three treys in scoring 11 points for LCA. Julianne Haines had six points and Morgan Holsclaw two.
The Cougars honored seniors Haines, Holsclaw and Hannah Remington in the regular-season finale.
LCA (5-13) plays Howe at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the Class 1-A Hamilton Sectional.
Whitko, now 12-6, hosts TRC foe Northfield Friday night. The Wildcats will then hosts Adams Central Saturday afternoon after the JV game at 11 a.m. Whitko will honor seniors Hall, Kelly Reiff and Shelby Bolinger on Saturday.
