February is Love Your Library Month at MPL!
Adults, ever been on a blind date? February is your chance to go on a “Blind Date with a Book.” Check out the display of books wrapped in pink paper in the adult area. The only clue to what’s inside will be a brief description attached to the outside cover of the package. Check the book out, take it home, unwrap it, read it, and then rate your date when you return the book to the library. You may discover an author or series you have never read before. For each blind date you go on, you may enter a drawing for a weekly prize.
Kids, like treasure hunts? Each day during Love Your Library month the staff will choose a mystery letter. If you check out a book with the mystery letter on the spine label, your name will be entered in a weekly drawing! Names are drawn on Friday. Visit the children’s department every day, check out some books and maybe you will be our next lucky winner!
Adult Reading Program
The adult reading program is in full swing. So far there have been four lucky readers chosen, and they have received some very nice prizes. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to read some of your favorite books and possibly win a great prize in the process. There is still plenty of time to join. Sign-up at the adult desk and read a book, magazine or listen to a book on CD. Put your name in a drawing for great prizes. This program will run through March 31.
Winter Story Time
Miss Heidi and Miss Julie’s preschool story time has begun. Preschool story time is for ages 3-6 years old. Story time is held on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
The library also offers a preschool story time on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. Winter Story Time lasts six weeks. Our theme for this week is “Counting Cookies.” Please bring some cookies to share. Learn how to play Cookie Tic-Tac-Toe.
Miss Julie will read The Duckling Gets a Cookie, by Mo Willems. What will Pigeon think when Duckling shows up with one cookie? Listen to Cookie Count, by Robert Sabuda. This tasty pop-up book will make you hungry for cookies!
It’s not too late to register your child for Story Time. Please join the fun. Sign up today!
After School is Cool Tuesdays
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, Miss Heidi invites children to participate in the Library Olympic Games. Gather in the library meeting room at 3:30 p.m. and test your library skills.
How many books can you stack on your head? Win a Library Olympic Medal! Enjoy refreshments! Bring your friends and get a candy bar for all who attend!
With all the winter weather we’ve been having, who is not looking forward to spring! Join Miss Maureen on Feb. 25 and make “Spring in a bottle.” After school is cool at the Milford Library.
Library Closing Early
The Milford Public Library is closing early on Feb. 21 at 3:30 p.m. for a staff in-service. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. Drop boxes are available at the South end of the library building. The library will re-open at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.
