Breast Cancer Fundraiser At Ancilla Game
PLYMOUTH – Saturday, Feb. 8, will mark the fifth annual Chargers for Change fundraiser, as the men’s and women’s basketball teams of Ancilla College host the event. The Ancilla Chargers will face off against the Red Hawks of Lake Michigan College in conjunction with Ounce of Prevention to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and patient support.
Admission is $5 to both games. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the LifePlex in Plymouth. Various activities are planned throughout the double-header against Lake Michigan College. Proceeds from donations and ticket sales will benefit Ounce of Prevention.
“We really love fun public events like this. Awareness is key to prevention and Ancilla basketball gives us one more opportunity to spread the word,” said Jennifer Houin, cofounder of Marshall County’s Ounce of Prevention organization.
“Ounce of Prevention is an organization whose focus is to increase breast cancer awareness and support systems right here in Marshall County. Ounce of Prevention’s impact is dependent on events throughout the year like this, and we rely on the many volunteers who help pull them together,” cofounder Jessica Oliver said.
