Kosciusko County Employment Rates Better Than Most
The state released labor data this week and officials at Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation used the information for a comparison as to how Kosciusko County is faring.
Comparing local numbers with those of seven neighboring counties, KEDCo President George Roberston said, ” It indicates that a trained worker pipeline, which is one of KEDCo’s priorities, is on the front burner.”
The information found that Kosciusko again had the lowest unemployment rate across northern Indiana at 5.2 percent, “significantly lower than the region and well below the Indiana number of 6.3 percent,” said Robertson.
Locally, the drop in unemployment from 2012 to 2013 was 30.67 percent. Only Wabash was slightly ahead at 31 percent.
“Most importantly,” said Robertson, “our number of employed increased by 2,683. In our region, only Allen County — 5 times our size — was higher in raw numbers. Percentage wise at a 7.43 percent increase in number employed, we lead all the other counties in our region. (This is) great news for the county.”
