Robert DeVoe Martin
Robert DeVoe Martin, 89, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Clunette, Ind., to Charles and Ruth (Steffe) Martin. He was a 1942 graduate of Atwood High School, Atwood, Ind., and served in the United States Army in World War II.
On Aug. 20, 1948, he married Patricia Harris in Warsaw and resided in Kosciusko County his entire life.
Robert was a mechanic with Kosciusko County Highway Department for 17 years, retiring in 1990. His memberships included the Whitley County Coon Hunters Association, Mountain Cur Association and he was a 4-H Shooter.
He is survived by two sons: Michael (Carol) Martin, Columbia City, Ind.; and James A. (Rebecca) Martin, Manassas, Va.; three daughters: Christine (Mark) Vandewalle, Pierceton, Ind.; Janet Best, Warsaw; and Debra (Dallas) Morrison, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Betty Miner, Atwood, Ind.; and Catherine McGowen, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Martin; and two sisters: Joy Martin and Joan Taylor.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
