Triton Ladies Clip Culver
CULVER – A strong finish carried the Triton girls basketball team to a key conference win Friday night.
The Trojans outscored Class 1-A No. 9 Culver by nine points in the final frame to post a 41-35 win in Northern State Conference play.
Triton trailed 30-28 after the third quarter before outscoring the hosts 13-4 in the final frame for the big league win.
Triton, the two-time defending NSC champions, improves to 9-5 overall and evens its’ conference mark at 2-2. Culver drops to 11-3 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Kylie Mason continued her strong play with a game-high 15 points for Triton, which ended Culver’s five-game winning streak.
Lauren Howstrawser had eight points and Taylor Hatfield five for the Trojans.
Kayla Shaffer and Meckella Hardy each had 12 points to pace Culver.
The two teams could face off again next week in a semifinal game of the Bi-County Tournament.
Triton plays at New Prairie and Culver travels to John Glenn in first-round games of the tourney Tuesday night.
