Streaking Panthers Top Valley
NAPPANEE – The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team ran into a red-hit team Tuesday night.
The Vikings dropped a 52-38 final to NorthWood in a non-conference contest.
NorthWood won its 10th straight game in improving to 13-3 on the season.
The Vikings, who were playing for the first time since defeating North Judson on Dec. 23, fall to 7-5. Valley had won four in a row prior to Tuesday night.
The Panthers led just 12-7 after the opening period but stretched their advantage to 29-17 at halftime.
Senior standout guard Cara Hoffman popped in 15 points to lead the Vikings.
Freshman Anne Secrest had 12 points and Caylie Teel added six for Valley.
Jordyn Frantz scored a game-high 18 points for the Panthers. Morgan Olson had 12 points and Tif Alexander netted 11 for NorthWood.
The Vikings and the Panthers could meet again in sectional action next month. Both teams are in the Class 3-A NorthWood Sectional.
The NorthWood junior varsity team improved to 14-0 with a 42-23 win. Kaylee Haines led the undefeated Panthers with 11 points.
Valley plays at TRC foe Rochester and NorthWood travels to NLC opponent Northridge Saturday night.
