WCS Appoints 2014 Board Members
The Warsaw Community School Board met Thursday for the organizational meeting of the board. During the meeting, members of the school board were able to nominate and vote for the 2014 board president, vice president and secretary.
The board unanimously selected Jennifer Tandy, 2013 board president, to continue that role this year. In addition, the board also re-elected Matt Dick to serve as board vice president.
Newly elected to the WCS school board was Randy Polston, who will be acting as the 2014 WCS board secretary. Delores Hearn served the position during the 2013 term. Both Dick and Polston were also unanimously voted into their offices.
“I think our officers have done a lot of work this year, and I appreciate the time that (they have put in), especially (all) Jennifer and Matt did. I believe the board is very aware of all the extra time and effort that they have been putting in as well so I just wanted to say thank you,” said WCS Superintendent Craig Hintz.
Other appointments made during the organizational meeting included Erica Purvis as WCS treasurer, Kara Leisure as deputy treasurer and Nicole Wills as executive secretary to the Board of School Trustees.
As per Indiana Code, the Board of School Trustees compensation for 2014 shall not exceed $2,000 per year and a per diem of $3,000 per year, for a total of $5,000 per year. The per diem rate for regular meetings is $112 and for committee meetings is $62.
The board also noted the cash management provider for the year will be Lake City Bank of Warsaw, which will also serve as the primary, but not the exclusive, investment institution for the school corporation.
Acting legal counsel for the upcoming year will be both Reed and Earhart, Attorneys at Law, P.C. and Warrick & Boyn, LLP.
