Blizzard Warning Expires, Storm Warning Activated

A Blizzard Warning for much of northern Indiana has now expired, but the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana says a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. today.

A Wind Chill Warning is also still in effect and will expire at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the NWS, blowing and drifting snow will be problematic today as winds gust to 30 mph most of the day with the occasional 40 mph gusts. Drifting snow will keep many roads impassible.

Temperatures will also continue to drop today bringing record cold wind chills of between 30 below and 45 below zero. Those conditions will continue through Tuesday. Locally, warming stations have been established for anyone needing a place to stay warm. (See related)

Kosciusko County has also issued a Level III weather emergency meaning travel is prohibited on unincorporated roads, expect for emergencies and for those needed to travel to and from work. (See related)
