Wawasee No Trouble For Norwell
PLYMOUTH – Norwell had five players reach double digits while Wawasee suffered a big blow Saturday night in the final round of the Plymouth Girls Basketball Shootout.
Hanna Smith netted 18 points to pace the Norwell Lady Knights to a 71-30 victory, but more importantly, Wawasee lost a big part of its team as sophomore guard Allissa Flores was lost for the season after sustaining a knee injury in the first half. Flores was eventually taken to Goshen Hospital for further evaluation, but word late Saturday night was a possible torn ACL and dislocated knee cap after a collision during the game.
As for the court action, Norwell (9-3) had Mackenzie Sawyer and Liara Isnogle both reach 11 points and Stephanie Conrad and Kaycee Strunk hit for 10 points apiece. Kylee Rostochak was the high mark for Wawasee (2-8) with 14 points.
Norwell outscored Wawasee 21-9 in the first quarter, but blew the game wide open with a 20-3 tally in the second quarter, fueled by four three-pointers, part of 10 total bombs hit in the game for the Lady Knights.
The final game of the night pitting Brebeuf and Plymouth did not have a score immediately reported.
