Ava S. King
Ava S. King, 88, formerly of Lagro, Indiana, died at 9:55 pm, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born July 4, 1925 in Lagro to Martin and Virdie (Watkins) Stephenson.
Ava was a 1943 graduate of Lagro High School. She married Fred H. King in Lagro on August 23, 1949; he died May 24, 1993. She was a secretary for the president of Celotex in Lagro. She was a member of the Lagro United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Lagro Eastern Star. Ava collected glass and loved traveling.
She is survived by her niece: Sally McKenzie of Warsaw, Ind., and sister-in-law: Edith Stephenson of Winona Lake, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother: Charles Stephenson.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, Peabody Chapel, 400 W. 7th St., North Manchester. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Ind. Arrangements are being handled by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester.
