Jerry Wallace Banks
Jerry Wallace Banks, 68, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1945, Alpena, Mich. Jerry was inducted into the US Army on Dec. 6, 1965. He served during Vietnam. SP5 Jerry Wallace Banks was honorably discharged Dec. 7, 1967. On Oct. 26, 1985, he was married to Sharon Lee Boroff, in Warsaw.
Jerry moved to Kosciusko County after his military service. He worked for 9 years at WalMart in maintenance; 10 years at Dalton Foundries; 10 years at Sun Metal Products
He was a member of VFW #49 and Disabled American Veterans. Jerry enjoyed fishing and Nascar and was a Dale Earnhart, Sr. and Dale Earnhart, Jr. fan. He was a very caring person who would give the shirt off of his back if someone needed it. He cared for his indoor and outdoor pets and was known to surprise Sharon with loving and romantic gestures. He loved his children and grandchildren very much.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Gina Banks, Omaha, Neb.; Christina (Troy) Matthews, Omaha; a son: Wallace (Lisa) Banks, Omaha; eight grandchildren: Tory and Taylor Matthews; Mackenzie, Alex, Quentin and Josephine Banks; Cassie and Elizabeth Banks; a brother-in-law: Bob Kraft, Rockwood, Mich.; niece and nephew: Ruby and Walter Kraft, Rockwood; a nephew: Bobby (Terri) Hepburn, Warsaw; and three great nieces: Elica, Laila and Kayla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Linda Kraft, Emily Kosha and Patricia Ingram; three brothers: Joseph Sobeck, Donald Sobeck and Ralph Sobeck.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2 at Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Carmer, First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Ind. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
