Ralph R. ‘Whitey’ Wideman Jr.
Ralph R. ‘Whitey’ Wideman Jr., 85, of Warsaw, Ind., and formerly of Mentone, Ind., passed away at 4:35 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Millers Merry Manor of Warsaw, where he had been for 2 weeks.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1928, in Mentone, to Ralph and Alma Gail (Miller) Wideman. On April 23, 1949, in Mentone, he was married to Mary Ann Jacks. She preceded him in death.
He worked for Arnolt Corporation of Warsaw for over 40 years as an engineer and he was a farmer.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Warsaw as well as Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne and the Mizpah Shrine of Warsaw. He was an avid IU Basketball fan and he also enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by daughters: Myra (Mike) Barnett, Leesburg, Ind.; Sheryl (Dan) Poston, Leesburg;
Robin (Ken) Adams; Warsaw; son: James (Penny) Wideman, Warsaw; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson: Jason Rodgers; a granddaughter; and three sisters: Pauline Cochran, Marie Rathbun and Maxine Horn.
Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home with Pastor Woody Burchett officiating. Burial will be held in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone. Arrangements are being handled by Hartzler Funeral Home.
