As New Year’s Eve quickly approaches and party goers begin to formulate their holiday plans, Fast Cab owner David Cesaretti urges drivers who may be drinking to leave their keys at home and opt for a safe and free option his business will be offering.
Fast Cab, which has provided free transportation to many Warsaw locations on New Year’s Eve for the past 20 years, will be offering rides in party buses, limos and cars completely free-of-charge to those visiting local businesses Tuesday evening.
“We have been doing this for 20 years,” stated Cesaretti. “It started out as a save-a-life program for New Year’s Eve. We thought, you know, a lot of towns do this and we’d like to organize free rides on New Year’s Eve as well. This is possible through the help of our sponsors. It is a big operation.”
Cesaretti stated that rides will be offered from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. According to Cesaretti, the operation offered hundreds of rides last year alone. Though free rides are only available within Warsaw, Cesaretti stated that those looking to visit locations farther away, such as Fort Wayne, are able to do so for a fee.
“The rides are free to and from (your destination),” stated Cesaretti. “We want everyone to have fun and be safe. Be a responsible drinker. Don’t drive your car, and if you do, only drive it one way. Call us for a ride home.”
Rides can be scheduled by calling Fast Cab at 574-269-2222. Rides will be offered from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday. This year’s sponsors include Rex’s Rendezvous, Susie’s Sandbar, Service Liquor, Liquid Assets, American Legion, Sorg Nissan, Moose, Warsaw Bowl, Nelson Beverage, Schrader’s Auto, Clevenger Insurance, Warsaw Bennigan’s, Lakeside Chevy, Time Out Bar and Grill, the VFW and Aloha Bar.
