Wildcats Clip Chargers
SOUTH WHITLEY – Aly Nicodemus made her one basket Thursday night count big time.
Nicodemus rebound bucket at the final horn lifted her Whitko girls basketball team past West Noble 64-62 in non-conference action at Whitko.
The Wildcats continue their hot start to the season by improving to 6-3. West Noble drops to 6-4.
Whitko led 20-11 after the opening quarter and had a 30-26 lead at intermission versus the Chargers. The Wildcats took a 50-45 edge into the final stanza.
Freshman Brianna Cumberland tossed in 25 points, including hitting 12-16 free throws, to lead Whitko to its third straight win.
Senior Jordan Hall turned in a strong performance for the winners with 14 points. Aly Reiff netted nine points and Kelly Reiff scored six for Whitko.
Kelsie Peterson scored a game-high 27 points to lead West Noble.
Whitko, which is also 2-0 in Three Rivers Conference play, travels to Tippecanoe Valley Saturday night for a big league contest. West Noble hosts Central Noble Saturday night.
