Bauer Vying For Superior II Judge
Torrey J. Bauer has announced his intention to run in the May Republican primary for Judge of Kosciusko Superior Court II.
Bauer has resided in Kosciusko County for the last 32 years graduating from Grace College in 1986 with a degree in criminal justice. He attended Indiana University Law School receiving his Juris Doctorate Cum Laude (with honors) in 1991.
From 1991 to 2013 Bauer practiced law at Lavender and Bauer P.C. until the passing of Jay Lavender, in January 2013. Bauer opened Bauer Law Office P.C in 2013 where he has continued the provision of legal services.
Bauer has 23 years of extensive legal experience in Northern Indiana and Kosciusko County including criminal, family, personal injury, business, estate planning law and administrative law and has served as judge “pro tem” in each Kosciusko County court multiple times.
Presently Bauer works in Kosciusko Circuit and Superior Court I and III as a court appointed public defender and served 17 years as a public defender in Kosciusko Superior Court II.
Bauer is a member of the Kosciusko County and Indiana State Bar Associations and is also licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Indiana and within the Northern and Southern United States District Courts of Indiana.
Bauer said he is running for judge because, “After much reflection, I am confident that the diversity of my legal experience over the last 23 years, specifically the hundreds of cases I have handled in Superior Court II, has provided me with the tools necessary to diligently serve the residents of Kosciusko County as the next Judge of Superior Court II.”
In addition to his legal experience, Bauer has been actively involved in the community. He has served as a vice republican precinct committeeman, volunteered his time as an adjunct professor at Ivy-Tech Community College teaching Business Law from 1993 through 2004 and has served as the assistant men’s varsity soccer coach for Warsaw Community High School since 1998.
Bauer has also served on the board of directors of numerous Kosciusko County non-profit organizations, including the City-County Athletic Complex, Heartline Pregnancy Center and presently serves as a board member and treasurer for Kosciusko County Right to Life.
Bauer stated, “I recognize the serious and immense responsibility that comes with judicial office and would be humbled by the opportunity to serve. If elected I would bring to the job my legal knowledge and experience, conservative values, common sense and a commitment to serve all with integrity and fairness.”
Superior Court II is currently presided over by Judge James Jarrette.
Bauer is 49 and resides in Warsaw with his wife of 18 year, Julie, a former counselor at Edgewood Middle School and their two children, Keely and Kade.
