INDOT Plows Reporting For Duty
Plow truck drivers for the Indiana Department of Transportation will begin rotating shifts today ahead of the predicted snow. Drivers will report to unit locations throughout Indiana at various times, depending on local weather forecasts.
Current weather forecasts show snowfall beginning tonight and continuing through tomorrow. Although projections vary across the state, northeastern Indiana could receive up to 6 inches of new accumulation.
INDOT has had crews pre-treating highways already today, and will begin plowing and treating interstates, U.S. highways and state routes as needed once snow begins. A second shift of drivers will exchange at midnight, working until noon Saturday.
INDOT will continue alternating 12-hour shifts as long as necessary to ensure roadway conditions remain as safe as possible during winter weather.
INDOT advises motorists to learn about driving conditions before leaving. Drivers can monitor road conditions and traffic alerts across the state at any time by phone, web or social media.
