Release Lanterns, Release Girls From Prostitution
Fight Club Pink, a women’s ministry of Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse, will hold a fundraiser to benefit Destiny Rescue, a non-profit organization that rescues children from sexual exploitation, providing them with a loving home, medical care, counseling, schooling and vocational training.
The fundraiser is “Free a Lantern, Free a Life” taking place Friday, Dec. 13. By donating $20, a lantern will be released into the night sky to symbolize the freedom of a young girl from prostitution.
The lanterns will be released following Fight Club Pink graduation at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the graduation or the lantern liftoff (approximately 8:30 p.m.).
Fight Club Pink is for women of all ages focusing on four areas of life: spiritual, physical, emotional and lifestyle. Each week, women are given challenges in the four areas they must complete. Participants stay connected through a private social media site, where they share their struggles, their victories, and encourage one another to finish strong.
Participants focus on 1 Timothy 6:12: “Fight the good fight of the faith.”
According to founder and coach, Linda Moore, over 100 women have participated in Fight Club Pink since it launched in Spring 2013.
“We choose to support Destiny Rescue because it is a ministry that focuses on young girls, on rescuing them from forms of sexual slavery and trafficking,” she said. “Fight Club is about women and Destiny Rescue is about the freedom of young women so it is a good fit.”

The next round of Fight Club Pink will begin with an initiation at 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse.
“I am amazed at the outcome of Fight Club Pink. It gives women what they need: accountability, friendship, guidance and goals,” said Moore. “Some women have lost a bunch of weight due to the physical challenges, others are finding freedom from addictions, authentic friendships are made, and each woman is strengthened in her faith. Ultimately, we just become better in every area of our lives.”
