Davidson Sets Record In Tiger Win
NAPPANEE – Spencer Davidson had quite the night for the Warsaw boys swim team Thursday.
Davidson set a NorthWood pool record in winning the 100 breaststroke event to lead the Tigers to a dominating 135-51 victory in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Davidson won the 100 breaststroke in a pool record time of 58.93. He also swam on all three winning relay teams as coach Nate Long’s squad improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the NLC.
Senior J.D. French won the 200 freestyle (2:00.92) and 100 freestyle (54.26) races for Warsaw. Also victorious for the undefeated Tigers were Josh Miller in the 200 IM (2:11.54), Ethan Cook in the 50 freestyle (24.29) and Josh Cardin in the 100 backstroke (1:06.34).
The outstanding duo of Cynthia Juarez and Ashley VanWormer each had a pair of individual events as the Warsaw girls team posted a 119.5-61.5 NLC win over the host Panthers.
Juarez won both the 100 butterfly (1:09.72) and 100 backstroke (1:09.56) and VanWormer was tops in the 50 freestyle (28.52) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.85). The duo also each swam on two of the three first-place relay teams for the Tigers.
The trio of Jessica Haines, Brenna Morgan and Erin Sandberg each were also winners for Warsaw. Haines won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:14.14, while Morgan won the 200 IM in 2:22.61 and Sandberg captured the 500 freestyle in 5:43.35.
The Warsaw girls team is now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NLC.
Warsaw hosts its own invitational Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
