Christmas Celebration
Experience “The Magic of Christmas – Past, Present and Future” at the North Webster Public Library’s annual Christmas celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall.
The public is invited to a free evening of holiday entertainment, festive refreshments and door prizes. An old-fashion carole sing, classic Christmas stories, readers theatre, and a variety of musical entertainment will have you reminiscing Christmases past while celebrating this year’s season and looking forward to the future with child-like wonder.
Book Bingo
The winner of Book Bingo will also be announced the evening of the Christmas celebration. So if you’ve been playing Book Bingo at NWPL during the last four weeks, be sure to attend. You just might be the winner and you must be present to claim your prize.
NWPL will also be accepting non-perishable food donations at the door to help out the North Webster Food Pantry and those in need this holiday season. Be aware that the library will close early at 6 p.m. that day so the entire staff can attend the celebration.
Book Sale
Don’t forget the Friends of the Library “Deck the Hall” Book Sale is Dec. 5-7 in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. A huge selection of gently used books, movies, CD’s, games and puzzles for all ages will be for sale, along with baked goods and the Friends of the Library’s annual calendar featuring historic photos of North Webster.
Repurpose Book Demonstrations will be going on throughout the sale on Thursday, Dec. 5, showing how you can turn old books into decorative items and gifts. At 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, during the sale, a free performance of Celtic music by the group Soltre will entertain shoppers with toe-tapping Irish tunes and old-time dance numbers.
Sale hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds go to help support NWPL.
Lose It @ The Library
Keeping your weight in check during the holidays can be a challenge. Join Lose It @ The Library for encouragement and support. The weekly weight loss support group meets every Monday at 5:30 p.m.
On Monday, Dec. 9, following weigh-in, a program on “Yoga Chat” will explore the benefits of yoga as part of a weight loss strategy.
Story Time
In the Youth Services Department, Mrs. Pam takes Story Time to the North Webster Elementary School on Tuesday, Dec. 10, when she visits the Functional Skills Class at 9 a.m. and Head Start at 9:30 a.m.
NWPL has added many new books to its holiday collection this year including large and regular print and audio books. Stop by and check a few out for your holiday reading. There is also have a large selection of Christmas movies ranging from new releases to timeless classics. For Christmas music, check out a CD or download songs from the Library’s Freegal music service available on our website at www.nweb.lib.in.us.
