Rochester Man Arrested Following Police Investigation
Yesterday morning, a drug investigation by officers from the Indiana State Police, the Rochester Police Department and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of John David Wentzel, 24, of Rochester. Wentzel was incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail to face felony charges for manufacturing methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug precursors and maintaining a common nuisance.
Trooper Ben Reason initiated an investigation after receiving a citizen’s tip of alleged illegal drug activity occurring at Wentzel’s residence on 1007 Franklin St., in Rochester. During the investigation officers developed enough probable cause to be issued a Fulton Circuit Court search warrant for Wentzel’s residence. During their search, officers allegedly found remnants of three methamphetamine labs, methamphetamine, marijuana and chemical drug precursors commonly associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
The chemical precursors and related evidence was collected and disposed of by members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post Meth Enforcement Team. Trooper Reason was also assisted in this investigation by Troopers Luke Bowyer, Mike Meiser, Weston Shanks and Adam Duffitt.
Citizens are encouraged to call their local law enforcement agencies with any information about the possession, distribution or manufacturing of methamphetamine. Information can also be reported anonymously by calling the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756.
