Childers Shines At Wawasee Duals
SYRACUSE – Devin Childers had a big day to lead the Tippecanoe Valley wrestling team to a runner-up finish Saturday in the Wawasee Super Duals.
Childers captured the Outstanding Wrestler of the Day honors as he went undefeated in the 132-pound class for the Vikings.
Valley had a handful of undefeated grapplers in the six-team event. The Vikings went 4-1, losing only to unbeaten and team champion Columbia City.
Posting undefeated marks on the day for Valley were Childers, along with Wyatt Nelson (138), Garrett Bell (170), Keaton Bell (182) and Jaron Kidd (220).
Columbia City captured the team title with a 5-0 mark. Valley was 4-1, Whitko 3-2, West Noble 2-3, Fort Wayne South Side 1-4 and an injury-riddled Wawasee team was 0-4.
Tristan Ponsler led the way for the host Warriors by going undefeated at 120 pounds.
Lane Wolf (126) and Cole Findley (152) posted unbeaten records on the day to pace Whitko.
Other undefeated wrestlers were Dylan McClure (106), Hunter Langeloh (113), Logan Hodges (160) and Kohltin Hoeppner (285) of Columbia City and Otis Reyes (195) of West Noble.
Wawasee opens conference action at Northridge Thursday.
